So here we are back to another school year that again promises much fun and excitement in the music and creative arts department here at Uplands. We are back to choir rehearsals and this term starting a new smaller vocal group each week focussing on songs from the shows. This will give those students with greater vocal skills a chance to really develop their singing. In October we have been invited by Justin Tomlinson MP to open the Disability Confident event at Steam. This will give the choir a chance to try out the new songs we have started learning this term. As always the choir love to get out and perform and its great we once again have another chance to do this. Also in October we will be taking part once again in the Lantern Parade in North Swindon. Students will make their own lanterns within class and then have the chance to take part in the parade and show them off to other schools students from the area.
From here we will get ever closer to that word...Christmas!! Yes it is only just over three months away now. At the start of December we will take part in the Swindon Music Service Annual special concert at the Citifaith church. This is a very special event that brings all the special schools in Swindon together to perform to a capacity audience. The end of the year will see the MandM productions team visit school for our annual pantomime. The students always love this to bits and have a fun time with all the usual spirit of pants thrown in for good measure. Finally we will be putting on two days of Christmas celebrations in school with another Nativity. After the success last year we will once again celebrate in style and tradition with Mary and Joseph and lots of carols.
So as you can see this term is once again going to be fun, exciting and very enjoyable for students and staff alike as we continue to thrive on the musical skills all our students have here ta Uplands.
I look forward to seeing you at the Christmas Nativity if not before. Paul Ashman.
