Creative Arts

I am delighted to introduce myself to you all as the new Creative Arts teacher at Uplands School. For the past ten years I have been teaching Music and Drama in schools both internationally and across Wiltshire. It is my philosophy that the Creative Arts are the ultimate form of self-expression; a universal language that inclusively connects us all historically, geographically and culturally. It is therefore my continuing commitment to ensure that the Creative Arts department and all of its students achieve the highest levels of success.

I am very pleased to report that we have a busy and exciting term ahead of us. Firstly, all of our existing choirs will be continuing as before with rehearsals on Monday, Tuesday and Friday lunch times, with new to songs be introduced. We have already had record levels of students attending, which has been fantastic. Also, the Reach Inclusive Arts will be visiting the school on Friday 13th October to provide a Drama based workshop, which will involve fourteen students from Abbey Park School. This will focus on both practical and sensory activities to help develop key skills and build the student’s confidence through individual and group work. And finally, I am very excited to announce the performance of Upland School’s first ever pantomime, Cinderella. Rehearsals will begin next week on Thursday lunch times and will be staged by our KS5 students and members of staff.

I have very much enjoyed my time here so far, and would especially like to thank Helen, Andy and Ben and, of course, all of the T.As for their invaluable support. I am looking forward to a happy and productive future here with you all.
