Finlay Foundation - Donation to Uplands School
On Monday 18th May pupils at Uplands School welcomed Niki Connor from the Finlay Foundation to the school. The Finlay Foundation is a charity set up in 2011 in memory of Niki’s little boy, Finlay who was tragically killed as they walked hand in hand to school. He was only 6 years old. Through fundraising events and donations, the Foundation has provided a wide range of specialist sensory toys and equipment to schools, children’s centres, clubs, hospitals and children’s hospices in Finlay’s memory.
On Monday, Niki presented a cheque for the amazing amount of £15,000 to Uplands School. This money will be used to buy new equipment to update and refurbish our Sensory Light Room which is used by pupils from across the school. Pupils and staff were delighted to receive this donation and to learn that the work is about to begin. We are all very much looking forward to seeing the end results and hope that Niki and representatives from the Finlay Foundation will return for the opening of our new Light Room which will be called Finlay’s Room.
