Severe Weather and School Closures

With the current unpredictable weather I thought I should remind you about how we deal with any severe weather, especially snow, which may affect the school.

Each day of any severe weather the School Transport Department and the transport company will make a decision as to whether they can safely get the students to school.  This decision will be made early in the morning and with enough time to inform you if they are not running.

The school leadership team will also make an assessment about whether it is safe and practical to open the school to students.  Please be assured that we only decide to close the school in exceptional circumstances where safety is our primary concern; this may be due to the availability of staff who travel some distance to reach school, rather than just the conditions for students getting to school.

It may be possible that when transport is not running the school will be able to open at a later time, providing safe numbers of staff are available.

Receiving information:

We do not currently have a text messaging service so please listen to BBC Wiltshire and Heart FM where school closures will be listed.

The school website will show the most up to date information around any full or partial closures.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
